As a Consumer Loan Processor you will:

  • Process and verify documentation for consumer loan applications, including vehicle loans, recreational loans, unsecured loans, share secured loans, credit cards and home equity products.
  • Coordinate closings with members, Loan Sales Specialists, and Branch Employees by preparing closing packages for distribution to branches or directly to the member. Ensure timelines are met and closings are consummated as contracted.
  • Assist Branch Employees, Loan Sales Specialists, and Underwriters with questions regarding processing, underwriting, and closing of consumer loans, lines of credit, and credit cards.
  • Prepare documents necessary for closing consumer loans in a timely manner and remote print to closing branch, mail to member, or utilize Docusign.
  • Fund loans adn complete post-closing functions to ensure proper liens are placed for collateralized loans.
  • Order and review title searches, appraisals, and Deeds of Trusts.  Records and releases Deeds of Trust.
  • Complete loan modification and extension documentation, review qualifications and file maintain loans.  
  • Monitor Collateral Protection Insurance, run reports, post CPI billings and refunds, handle escalations and process total loss claims.
  • Responsible for the on-going utilization of Docusign software, including creating and maintaining forms, as well as, loading updates as needed.

Skills / Requirements

  • Professional well developed interpersonal skills essential for interviewing loan applicants and projecting a positive image as representative for the credit union. Approaches others in a tactful manner, reacts well under pressure, accepts responsibility for own actions, and follows through on commitments. 
  • Ability to communicate over the phone including complaint resolution, settling disputes, resolving grievances and conflicts, and otherwise negotiating with others.
  • Desire to work with the public with a focus on meeting member needs.
  • Thorough understanding of loan protection products and ability to answer questions about GAP, Warranty, and Debt Cancellation.  
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Requires judgment to apply broader aspects of established practices to situations, which go beyond clear, concise guidelines.
  • Requires education equivalent to a four-year high school education or general education degree (GED). Some post-secondary education preferred.
  • Two to three years of related experience required.
  • Intermediate mathematical skills required (calculations and concepts involving decimals, percentages, fractions, etc.).
  • Requires excellent computer and word processing skills. Experience with consumer loan software programs for document processing and loan origination required.
